Dear All

I hope that you all have had a good two months since our last Newsletter, and despite the warm spells we have had, your gardens are coping.

BBC Gardener's Question Time went well in June. I hope that those who attended found it interesting and entertaining.

I couldn’t detect any trains on the recordings so that was a relief!

We went to RHS Wisley on August Bank Holiday Monday and participated in the ‘Thursday Murder Club’  event which was intriguing and gave a good way of seeing the gardens. More to the point, they were in great condition particularly the herbaceous borders, but they have more people to water in very warm weather I would imagine!!

Anyway, looking to the future: -

A reminder that, our next meeting is at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24th September in West Horsley Village Hall when Janet John will give her talk on ‘WILDFLOWERS’. We hope to see as many of you there as can make it. There will be a ‘Best flower in the garden’ competition as in the past where you all vote for the exhibit you like most.

I was in the Horsley library recently and noticed that the SEED BANK is being used but is quite full although they were predominately vegetable seeds that have been there for some time.

Can I encourage you all to use the Bank to maintain turnover, increase the number of flower seeds and to give you options for different varieties.

In the meantime, let’s hope for more much needed rain!

Regards

Terry
