Members may make more than one entry in classes marked with* but different varieties

 

Division 1 - Flowers

  1.   Roses Large flowered – Grown for fragrance - one bloom*

  2.  Roses Large flowered – one or more varieties - three blooms*

  3.  Roses – Cluster flowered - three sprays

  4.  Roses – one variety - one bud, one bloom, one blown*

  5.  Sweet Peas mixed - five stems

  6.  Annual or Biennials any kind or variety or mixed - five stems*

  7.  Best Flower in the Garden other than Rose - one bloom or spray

  8.  Bulbs or Corms - one variety- five stems

  9.  Flowering Shrub or Tree - one spray in bloom*

  10.  Shrub or Tree – Grown for foliage- one spray*

  11.  Clematis - five blooms

  12.  Mixed Flowers - not as an arrangement - no fewer than four kinds

  13.  Mixed foliage - not as an arrangement - no fewer than four kinds

  14.  Indoor Pot plant – any - Plant pots must not exceed 20cm maximum

Division 1 – Vegetables

  1.  Broad Beans - six pods – one variety*

  2.  Runner Beans - six pods - one variety*

  3.  Beans other than Broad or Runner - six pods - one variety*

  4.  Peas - nine pods - one variety*

  5. Lettuce one variety - two lettuces

  6. Potatoes one variety - four potatoes*

  7. Culinary Herbs - four different named herbs - not in flower - not to exceed 30cm high

  8.  Any other Vegetable/Salad – one variety

Division 2 – Homecrafts Cookery

  1.  Marmalade - one jar*

  2.  Soft Fruit Jam - one jar*

  3.  Fruit Jelly - one jar*

  4.  Chutney - one jar*

  5.  Victoria Sponge cake

  6.  Vegetable Quiche - one whole quiche - own pastry

  7.  Seeded Plait Loaf – to be made by hand

  8.  Banana & Cranberry Muffins - plate of four (see suggested recipe in printed Programme page 21 )

Craft

  1. Art or Photography - A Centenary Celebration

Division 3 – Children

RULES FOR EXHIBITORS

 

  1. All Flowers, Fruit and Vegetables shown must have been grown from seed by or have been in the possession and cultivation of the Exhibitor for at least six weeks prior to the show.

  2. No Exhibitor shall enter more than one exhibit in the same class, except where stated

  3. Exhibitors using the same garden may enter the same class separately but must submit different varieties.

  4. Where additional entries are permitted by *, different varieties are required. Multiple items within a single exhibit should comprise a single variety unless otherwise stated.

  5. All Exhibits in Homecrafts and Children's classes must be the unaided work of the Exhibitor. A relative or friend may stage for, or assist, the Exhibitor.

  6. Garnish may be used but will receive no points.

  7. Exhibitors must provide their own plates, dishes and vases – unless stated otherwise. The Committee will not be responsible for these or any personal property.

  8. Plant pots must not exceed 20cm maximum dimension.

  9. Class entry cards will be available to Exhibitors from the Show Secretary at the time specified for staging the Show and must be placed ‘Name’ downwards by the Exhibitor against each exhibit.

  10. Exhibits, excluding Homecrafts, will be judged according to current RHS Show Handbook and WI Rules. Items which are ‘Not according to Schedule’ (NAS) will not be marked. The Committee reserves the right to inspect gardens or allotments from which the produce has been entered for competition in order to be satisfied that the conditions governing competitive exhibits are fulfilled.

  11. Competent judges will be appointed. Their decisions will be final. They will have power to give extra prizes or, if the exhibits are not deemed worthy, to withhold or reduce the prizes offered.

  12. Any protest must be made in writing and delivered to the Show Secretary within one hour after the opening of the Show. The decision of the Protest Committee shall be final.

  13. Entries shall be made by e-mail or using the printed forms enclosed with the Schedule, and must be submitted by THE TIME SHOWN ON THE SHOW ENTRY FORMS.

  14. Late entries may be refused at the discretion of the Show Secretary.

  15. Exhibits for the Spring Show 2025 must be delivered to the Agnes Conisbee room in EH Village hall and staged on the day of the Show between 10.30am. and 11.15am.

  16. The Cups for the Spring Show will be awarded after the Event. Exhibits must be taken away at the end of the evening.

  17. Exhibits for the Summer Show must be delivered to the hall between 8:30am and 10:30am and staged on the day of the Show, after which time exhibitors will be excluded and judging will commence.

  18. The Cups for the Summer Show will be presented at 4:00pm. Exhibits must be removed by 4:30pm.

  19. In line with RHS policy, the Committee has decided to ban the use of floral foam at all shows. ‘FibreFloral TM’, a natural product based on volcanic basalt rock with a bio-based binder that is derived from rapidly renewable materials, is acceptable.
